Ushguli is one of the most impenetrable communities of Svaneti, due to its almost complete isolation from the outside worldTherefore here are best preserved Svaneti towers. And of course stunning beauty of mountain slopes around! Here, at the altitude of 2200 m above sea level we will visit the functioning monastery of Lamariya church of Virgin Mary, built on the place of pagan temple of 9-10th century.
Hike to Shkhara glacier.
It is the highest peak in Georgia - the mountain Shkhara, its height is 5193 meters and it is the third highest in the whole Caucasus. Here the Shkhara Glacier is located on the southern slope, from which the Inguri River flows. Views opening here will not leave anybody untouched!
